ATA Recruitment– History

1963
ATA Recruitment was formed; initially the business was set up as a generalist recruitment company under the name ATA Selection.

It became clear that the key market opportunity was in the field of technical sales and, over the next twenty years the company expanded to thirteen branches in England, Wales and Scotland, incorporating an element of commercial sales, engineering and “creative”, involving advertising company clients.

1991
ATA Recruitment’s current Chairman, Bill Douie and previous Managing Director, Clive Chapman acquired the business.

Recognising that the economy was still recovering from the stock market crash of the late 1980’s, the new management took the opportunity to refocus the business into the most lucrative market places.  They began concentrating efforts heavily on technical engineering with a lesser exposure to the sales market, which had been severely affected by the recession.

1998
ATA Selection, with nine UK branches was listed on the AIM (the Alternative Investment Market) stock market.

2003
ATA Selection entered the lucrative market place of contract placements.  The new market exceeded initial targets and the company began to develop aggressive recruitment campaigns to attract new consultants to support this rapidly expanding growth.

2006
ATA Selection entered the construction market place with a dedicated team based at a single location; this was a result of demand from our clients.

ATA Selection formed a dedicated corporate contract account management team, specifically to service high volume engineering positions.

2009

ATA Selection became ATA Recruitment Ltd. and restructured its already industry specific teams into key operating brands. This strategic refocus, formed our vertical brands of ATA Rail, ATA Construction, ATA Defence and Aerospace and ATA Energy and allows us provide the most efficient service achievable to our clients and candidates on a national and international basis.

The ATA Selection name remains in use, covering our regionally based teams of consultants recruiting for local SMEs and national firms for positions in general engineering, manufacturing and technical sales.

2011

ATA’s sister company Global Choice joined the business to form ATA’s dedicated Oil & Gas division. ATA has also entered the international market with the recent introduction of ATA India and ATA International which are headed up by Adrian Mansfield.
