A Vertical Challenge: ATA Verticals team go the distance for charity
A team of consultants from ATA Rail, ATA Defence and Aerospace and Ganymede Solutions are to take on the ultimate challenge by walking 52 miles and climbing 3800ft in just 24 hours. The endurance test which follows the ‘Ridgeway’, the oldest road in Britain, not only presents an opportunity for the team to raise money for Deafblind charity, Sense but also has the added bonus of helping the team improve their fitness levels.
The team which consists of Anthony Sweetman, Phil Crew and Dave Perrin of ATA Rail; Adrian Mansfield of ATA Defence and Aerospace and Stuart Fraser of Ganymede Solutions Ltd will be competing against other teams from across the UK in the Mega Ridge Walk event which begins in Watlington, Oxfordshire on 24th April.
Rail consultant Anthony Sweetman commented; “The challenge will provide a chance for us to bond as a team, whilst experiencing one of the most dramatic landscapes in the UK. We are currently in training to ensure that we are at a level of fitness which will allow us to successfully conquer the ridge.”
In the run up to the challenge, the team are working together to fundraise for Sense, the leading national charity which supports children and adults who are deafblind.
Anthony noted “Sense helps people with sight and hearing problems all over the UK. Just a small donation to them could make a difference, with £15 paying for a tactile book to help develop a deafblind child’s sense of touch, up to £1000 enabling Sense to buy a sonic chair to allow deafblind people to help develop their other physical sensations. We hope that whatever we raise can provide some quality of life for deafblind people throughout the UK.”
The challenge provides another medium in which the consultants will require the same teamwork, endurance and dedication which is essential in their daily recruitment roles.
ATA Verticals Managing Director Gary Hewett remarked “ATA’s philosophy is one of teamwork and commitment, of working together to produce the best possible service for our candidates and clients. This challenge will not only provide a valuable contribution to Sense, but will allow the verticals teams to strengthen their team working skills.”
