Graduates Urged To Use Web To Net A Job - ATA Recruitment

Graduates urged to use web to net a job

With the latest job statistics showing that the UK is shedding almost 15,000 jobs each week the job market is becoming increasingly competitive particularly for those with limited experience.
The association of Graduate Careers is now encouraging university leavers to use social networking and extra-curricular activities to help them secure a foothold in the job market.
It called on graduates to make use of social media, in particular websites such as facebook, twitter and LinkedIn which are becoming increasingly important in recruitment. Also extra-curricular activities at University, such as part time work or membership to societies helped candidates stand out of the crowd of potential employees.
Gary Hewett, Managing Director of ATA Recruitment, said “It’s easy to get the impression that there are no jobs out there, there are lots, but admittedly competition for them is tough. Those who consciously improve their skills, accumulate work experience and proactively seek out vacancies will have a definite edge”.
Gary continued “Graduate recruitment is becoming increasingly more important for the future of the UK economy particular within the technical and engineering sectors within which ATA operates, we are encouraging our clients to extend their reach to students and graduates however those that are prepared to undertake placements or internships will definitely be at an advantage”.
With predicted shortages within the Energy, Utilities, Civil Engineering and Manufacturing sectors as a result of an aging workforce amongst engineers, graduate opportunities look set to increase.
