Role – Automation Engineer
Location – East London
Salary – £30,000 – £40,000 + 25 Days Holiday + Pension
Hours of Work – Monday-Friday 9am-6pm
My client is a new exciting, forward thinking engineering business who have a vision to change the world of packaging as we know it! They have developed a sustainable packaging product that can replace single use plastic and have a huge positive environmental impact. The business is growing rapidly, with lots of business opportunities in the pipeline and constant development of brand-new machines and technologies. They currently have a number of machines producing the product at their site in East London and are in the process of building 10 brand new machines for the site which will enable them to increase production. They are therefore looking to a recruit an Automation Engineer to join their growing team who will be responsible for the commissioning, maintenance and improvement of the machines.
They are looking for someone who has previous experience interrogating and modifying PLC systems, reading electrical wiring diagrams and problem-solving issues with new machinery. The role of Automation Engineer will involve:
Commissioning brand new machinery on their site based in East London.
The machinery is made up of components such as motors, pumps, valves, HMI screen etc.
Reading electrical schematics to assess everything is correct, re-wiring and fault finding where necessary.
Load Beckhoff PLC on the machine (will be moving to Siemens S7), load drivers, look at any variations and make any modifications where necessary. Each machine has around 25-30 inputs/outputs.
Liaise with operators on the shop floor to understand any problems they may be happen.
Keep machines running smoothly and fault find any issues that may occur, swapping any components that may be needed.
Specify any components and parts that may be needed, understand specifications.
Understanding mechanical components and parts, how they move and any issues that may occur.
Moving forward this person can get more involved with new product development within the company.
To be successful an Automation Engineer you will need:
Previous experience fault finding on PLC systems, able to modify code and understand inputs/outputs.
Able to read electrical schematic diagrams.
My client is open to candidates with experience from all industries, however if you have worked with motion and fluid control in the past that would be advantageous.
