Midlands and North West (Working from Home)

£55,000 + 15% Bonus + £450 Per Month Car Allowance


The Company

My client is one of the world’s largest providers of testing services with a global turnover in excess of £1 Billion and thousands of staff.  The business offers a vast range of testing services to their customers and have grown aggressively organically and via acquisition in the past five years.

One of their key revenue streams is Non-Destructive Testing where the company turns over circa £15 million a year in the UK with a plan to double this to £30 million in the next few years.  From three key sites in the Midlands and north the business can offer customers a wide range of non-destructive testing services and they service customers in the aerospace, metals manufacturing and power generation markets amongst others.

Due a retiree within the business the company are looking to recruit a new Business Development Manager for their NDT Division who will take on a mixture of account management, current client development and new business development work.  If you have strong sales experience in this area please apply online for immediate consideration.


The Role

The Business Development Role is a key function within the NDT division of the business.  You will be responsible for ensuring that relationships are maintained, fostered and build with the current set of customers and following up marketing campaigns and internal leads to identify, nurture and win new business for the company. This will involve:

  • Understanding sales performance with current customers and key accounts to understand how you can win a bigger proportion of their business.
  • Maintaining regular contract with key points of contact at existing customers through the companies CRM system to ensure you the business gets the opportunity to quote for NDT services when required.
  • Ensuring that you are engaged with customers engineering departments as well as procurement to be able to add value to the sales process and NDT services offered.
  • Updating the sales CRM system with potential pipeline of work being identified.
  • 20-25 customer visits per month
  • Generating requests for quote for Non-Destructive Testing from customers.
  • Closing out orders for testing.
  • Following up on internal leads and enquiries to establish new customer relationships and winning new business.
  • You will be responsible for generating circa £3-4 million of sales for the business per year.


The Candidate

  • To have a consultative approach to solving customers problems
  • To be a strong closer
  • To have sold a mechanical engineering related service, system or value-added product
  • To be based between the Midlands and North West.
