Salary - £28k - £34k depending on experience, plus door to door pay at x1.5 (OTE £52k+)

The Business

Our client specialises in the design, manufacture and servicing of Weighing and Instrumentation systems for the Food & Drink, Chemical, Petrochemical, Utilities, Mining, Power and Nuclear sectors. Established in the 1970’s, the business has offices across Europe and enjoyed a steady period of growth over the last 10 years.

The business offer end to end support on their products, able to provide completely bespoke systems for their customers, with Warranty cover on all their machines. Thanks to their expanding customer base the business now need an additional Field Service Engineer to join their South of England Field Service Team to provide additional cover.

The Role

The Field Service Engineer will be home based and will attending Customer’s sites for new installations, breakdowns or Planned Services, either on their own or as part of a larger team of Engineers depending on the size and scope of the product. Most breakdowns and faults relate to calibration issues, or damaged or faulty sensors. The Field Service Engineer will be required to perform a full diagnostic on the equipment and recalibrate the systems to ensure they are providing accurate readings.

Routine Services vary between 3 months and 12 months depending on the equipment, with a full recalibration and service performed. Installations of new equipment vary depending on the size of the equipment so the Field Service Engineers must be willing to stay away when required as installations may take several days.

The Service Teams are set up on a Regional basis so as to provide full Countrywide cover for their customers, with this role Covering the South East of England (Kent, Essex, Sussex and into Greater London).

Due to the bespoke nature of their products the client has a tried and tested induction and training program for all new Engineers which is a mix of classroom based learning and field based shadowing with one of the Senior Field Service Engineers. As such the business are open to Candidates from a wide variety of Engineering backgrounds.

The Candidate

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • A recognised Electrical or Electronic Qualification
  • Experience servicing or maintaining industrial, automated, or manufacturing equipment
  • The ability to fault find with a multimeter and read electrical drawings
  • Be willing to travel
  • Have excellent customer facing abilities

Training

Thanks to their proven training program the business is happy to look at candidates from a wide variety of engineering backgrounds, including those who may have recently left the Armed Forces, candidates with a background in Metrology or Instrumentation, or those with specific experience servicing and maintaining Weighing Equipment.
