The Business

Our client specialise automated strapping machines used in the packaging, print, FMCG and construction product markets. With sites across Europe, Asia and the US the business can provide both off the shelf and bespoke solutions. Founded in the 1960’s, the business has had a permanent UK presence since 1990.

The business not only design, install and service their own machinery, but also provide Service Support packages for customer’s who have machines from their competitors. Despite the pandemic, the business has continued to grow and expand thanks to the industries they supply to. As such they now require an additional two Service Engineers to join their well established Team.

The Role

Covering from Swindon across to Bristol and surrounding areas, the Service Engineer will be required to attend Breakdowns and perform routine services on the full range of their Strapping Machines. Engineers manage their own diaries on weekly basis, with jobs being sent directly to their PDAs for them to arrange directly with the customer.

Hands on the work will be predominantly Mechanical in nature (70%), however the Service Engineer will still be required to fault find on electrical systems with a multimeter and read electrical drawings. The Machines are controlled by Siemens S7 and Engineers are provided with a laptop to fault find with.

The business operates a Regional Service model so Engineers will only be required to stay overnight two or three times a month maximum. They also offer full product training, with a six month training and development plan that involves and mix of classroom based learning and in the field shadowing. Once travel restrictions are lifted the successful applicant will be sent to complete their in-house Product Training at their main manufacturing plant in Germany.
