Group Head of Sales
£65,000 – 75,000 + £5,500 Car Allowance + £5-10K Bonus
I am working exclusively in partnership with one of the UK’s leading process engineering companies. The business focus on the delivery of turnkey engineering projects for process industries including mechanical, electrical, process and software design as well as the fabrication of some process plant equipment for industries including food, drink and pharmaceuticals. The projects the company deliver range from £2 - £20 million in value and the business employs 160 people at their UK operation including many engineers who have achieved chartered status.
The company have grown incredibly in the past five years from a turnover of £25 million to £50 million currently with the next five years seeing them expect to become a £100 million business. The company has the backing of a large global organisation and a local trading history dating back over 200 years.
As part of their targeted growth plan the business are now looking to recruit a Group Head of Sales who will be responsible for leading and developing the existing sales team to maximise performance as well growing the team in line the businesses plan as they push towards their £100 million target.

As Group Head of Sales you will be the driving force for the company’s sales plan, culture and for managing all sales activity with their existing customer base and new customers they are looking to engage with. Projects that business sell are typically full turnkey engineering solutions ranging anywhere from £1 million to £20 million. You will initially inherit a team of five sales engineers who are based in the UK. Key duties will involve:
- Establishing a robust sales plan to ensure the business is networking their existing customer base to create maximum opportunities.
- Taking research from marketing to formulate sales plans for new business target customers and managing this through with the sales team.
- Identifying areas training within the team to help them develop as sales engineers.
- Recruitment of further sales engineers in the team as part of the business plan, targeted areas for recruitment are Scotland, China and USA.
- Identifying exhibitions, conferences and network events that the sales team should be present at.
- Implementing and managing measurable performance indicators for the team so that sales performance can be analysed more effectively
- Networking internally within the business internationally to ensure all channels are open for potential sales leads.
- Senior level sales support for your team for key customers where required.
For this Group Head of Sales role I am looking to engage with candidates who has:
- Experience leading a technical sales function within a turnkey or solution led sales engineering environment.
- An engineering qualification.
- The ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Experience in implementing and managing structure with a sales team.
- Strong man management skills.
- £65,000 – 75,000
- £5,500 Car Allowance
- £5,000 – 10,000 bonus per annum
- Company Pension 5% - 8%
