Location: Home-based covering a UK wide remit

ATA Search is working in partnership on a confidential and retained assignment with a leading supplier of manufactured products that are sold via a branch distribution network.

 

This £multi-million business unit generates more than £50m in annual sales with 250 staff, occupying over 60 branches and distribution outlets spread across the UK. Financially secure, this business unit is also part of a larger group that increased annual sales by 25% post-pandemic. They have a strong value proposition by supplying ethically manufactured products that support the group’s overall sustainability and carbon reduction program.

 

The successful Managing Director will need to demonstrate a proven record in successfully leading business growth with strong financial acumen. Both strategic and hands-on, you will lead all business activities and manage a complex and integrated business model across a matrix structure to increase turnover and sales margin.

Key accountabilities:

 

  • Full P&L control for a multi-million-pound branch distribution business supplying internal and external manufactured products
  • Strategy development and implementation, acquisitions, driving change to optimise the operating model, development of the senior leadership team and coaching direct reports
  • Leading a broad cross-functional team, ensuring development plans are in place and ensuring a high-performance culture exists
  • Achieve and exceed revenue and operating profit targets whilst restructuring the organisation to a single operating model
  • Develop commercial strategies and manage complex pricing decisions whilst retaining and growing the branch and distribution customer base
  • Lead and support the implementation, integration and management of new sales development tools
  • Prepare detailed business plans and budgets with regular reporting to the Board of Directors
  • To collaborate closely with the Financial Director to ensure management of debtors is robust and bad debt exposure is minimised
  • Extensive data analysis in an ever-evolving organisation as well as being hands-on in integrating acquired businesses
  • Management of the operational teams leading H&S policies, operational processes and business policies and procedures

 

Requirements:

 

  • An experienced Managing Director or General Manager
  • A proven history of business growth within a branch distribution business
  • Demonstrate that you have had enough cross-functional leadership experience as an agile business leader who can manage a complex, integrated group business within a matrix structure
  • BSc/BA in business administration, finance or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus
  • Experienced in performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
  • Willing to travel extensively throughout the UK
