My client is offers specialist turnkey solutions for process manufacturing equipment to clients within the FMCG sector. They sell, design, manufacture, project manage and commission large scale equipment for the manufacturing of goods.

They have and continue to work with a mixture of small, medium and large well-known organisations and have forecasted a growth of £5m in turnover in 2021.

Due to an increase in workload at one of their key client’s sites they are looking to add a Resident Design Engineer to the team who will take responsibility for any upgrade or modification work within the facility. The role of the Resident Design Engineer will be:

  • Based at a client site managing all design activities related to upgrades, retrofits, hook-up’s and extensions
  • Reviewing customer P&ID’s
  • Producing 3D models & detailed designs of process plant and pipework using Plant 3D
  • Production of pressure vessels, tanks, plant, pipework layouts and isometrics
  • Creating 2D designs using AutoCAD, General Arrangement drawings, part fabrication & assembly drawings
  • Liaising with Systems Engineers, Project Manager, Sub-contractors and client where necessary
  • Produce BOM’s in conjunction with the drawings
  • Also responsible for managing the installation of the equipment on-site to ensure the designs and installs are as per the specification
  • You could be handling one large design or multiple smaller designs at any one time

You will have a combination of the following skills and experience:

  • A proven track record as a Design Engineer – within Food, Beverage, Pharma, Water, Energy to Waste or Petro-Chemical
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D AutoCAD or Plant 3D
  • AutoDesk Inventor experience is desireable 
  • Able to read and understand a P&ID
  • Previously designed process pipework, pressure vessels or process systems
  • ONC in Mechanical Engineering or Apprentice trained
