Role – Proposals Engineer
Location – Basildon
Salary – £35,000 – £45,000 + Company Bonus + Flexitime + 25 Days Holiday

My client is a leading provider of mechanical systems supplied into a range of manufacturing market sectors, they work heavily within the automotive sector and supply bespoke, complex special purpose machinery for various functions. They are involved in the mechanical/electrical & controls design, manufacture, site installation and project management providing total turnkey solutions to blue chip customers around the world.
Established for over 30 years, this business is part of a global group generating annual sales in-excess of £80 million. This business has experienced significant growth over the past five years and thus, they now need to strengthen their Commercial Engineering team and recruit a Proposals Engineer who will be responsible for putting together all technical proposals for customers.

The Role
The role of Proposals Engineer will involve:

Responding to RFQ’s (request for quote) from a customer.

Researching all aspects of the required system including controls & automation, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical.

Coordinating all proposals, bids, tenders and technical support on each project.

Assess how much it will cost to design, build, install and programme the machine.

Assessing the time and budget required for the project.

Estimate the project which includes looking at labour, design, project management, what software is required, tooling and project hours.

Participate in technical reviews with the customer, negotiate and adjust bids accordingly to ensure they are competitive.

Following through on the proposal to order acceptance.

80% of the role will be reacting to incoming quotations.

20% of the role with be following up and closing out submitted proposals.

Project values will range from £50,000 – £3million.

Proposals can run from 6 months up to 2 years.
The Person
To be successful as a Proposals Engineer you will need:
-
Previous experience within a Proposals, Applications, Internal Sales or Project Engineering environment.

An engineering qualification.
-
To have experience working on projects relating to electro-mechanical machinery.
