ATA Recruitment are working exclusively with a leading process engineering business who run multi-million pound turnkey process engineering projects for the food, beverage, distillery and pharmaceutical markets.  We are currently supporting the business in the recruitment of a Senior Proposals Engineer who will be responsible putting together the tenders and proposals for the projects the company are bidding for whilst also taking the lead on the process design work required for projects at bid stage.

The Role

As a Senior Process Engineer (Proposals) in this role, you will be responsible for leading process engineering during the bidding stage of projects whilst also pulling together the final tenders and bids for projects by working closely with the mechanical, electrical and software engineers in the sales team.

The key focuses for this Senior Process Engineer (Proposals) will be:

  • Visiting customers along a sales engineer to interpret the URS – this will involve speaking to client and engaging to understand the requirement in more detail if this needs clarification before they begin developing the process.

  • The P&ID needs to be developed first as understanding all the equipment that will be needed for the project is an essential starting point to begin the costing process.
  • Producing specifications and securing prices from suppliers for mechanical equipment required for the project.
  • Working closely with the electrical and software experts in the sales team so they can feedback on proposed costings for these areas for the project.
  • Liaising with the CAD team for any drawings and models that would aid the bid.
  • Pulling together estimates on engineering time required on the project to allow this to be factored into bids.
  • Supporting the sales engineer with presenting the bid to the potential customer.
  • Tender Writing – Building up the final tender or proposal that will go to the customer for submission.

Bids could range from 50K FEED studies up to 10 million full turnkey projects.  More complex bids could take a month or two to bring through to completion.
