A leading manufacturer in the FMCG industry. As a Apprentice maintenance engineer you will have the chance to work on the latest and state of the art machinery to help maintain the company status as a market leader in the sector.
The Role
My client is looking for an Apprentice maintenance engineer (2nd or 3rd) year to join the team. As an Apprentice maintenance engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that our production equipment and facilities are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring that our operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
To complete an engineering apprenticeship and training programme to be suitably competent to support a small engineering team responsible for maintaining a range of complex manufacturing equipment and ensuring that high standards of safety, quality and documentation are met.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well organised working environment and ensure that all company health and safety procedures are always adhered to.
- Report all safety issues including unsafe conditions and near misses immediately.
- Over the 4-year advanced apprenticeship, you are required to complete all relevant college modules and keep a logbook fully up to date.
- Engage in on-going personal development to gain experience and develop skills and knowledge.
- Support on daily checks of machine and area equipment to support production activities and prevent machine downtime; log and report any issues.
- Assist with monitoring and maintaining equipment and machinery to minimise frequency and magnitude of breakdowns.
- Respond to production breakdowns, prioritising tasks to meet business needs.
- Liaise with Engineering Team Leader regarding on-going engineering issues, evaluation of breakdowns and other associated activities.
- Job reporting and recording on computer maintenance management system (Pirana Shire systems software)
- Developing and implementing ideas for improvement and increased reliability of plant and equipment

- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (3 of which must be English, Maths, Science)
- Already in your 2nd or 3rd year of a mechanical or electrical apprenticeship.
