Location - Derby

My client is a UK privately owned business with 3 sites in the UK.  They manufacture products to customers in variety of different industries. The business employs over 100 people across the 3 locations with the sites carrying out a range of different types of manufacturing processes to product the finished products.

The Derby site employs circa 60 staff. The business is looking to employ a Buyer for the site who will go on to support at other Midlands and Northern sites as the role progresses.

The role supports the execution of the day to day production requirements and procurement tasks within the production department. Together with both the Purchasing and Planning Manager and Manufacturing Manager.

Buyer KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The buyer will directly report to and support the Purchasing and Planning Manager

Negotiate with suppliers to secure lead time for payment terms/achieve OTIF deliveries/competitive pricing and quality of products being purchased.

Ensuring all works are in line with the production plan.

Administrative duties including but not limited to; Raising purchase orders, maintain project job files, creation of job cards (route cards), preparing logistics requests and amending invoices

Progress Plus (In house software) and other supporting sources of information.

Interface with suppliers and build strong collaborative relationships.

Working with other departments such as Accounts, Quality and Delivery and Manufacturing.

Raise any concerns in relation to quality of products received and performance of suppliers

, report and/or address record Non-Conformities using 8D Reports for suppliers

Buyer GENERAL EXPERIENCE/KEY ATTRIBUTES:

Experience using IT and proficient in Microsoft Office and MRP software.

Experience working within a similar environment and previous purchasing experience would be beneficial.

The ability to read engineering drawings would be an advantage

Previous experience raising purchase orders.

 TRAINING AND COMPETENCE:

Maths/ English level C at GCSE or equivalent

Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

Good Interpersonal Skills, verbal and written

Strong problem-solving skills

Planning and Organising Skills
