Rate: £48.00 – £53.00 per hour
Our client who are a MEICA engineering client, delivering complex control system integration projects across the UK. They are looking for a Control System Commissioning Engineer to join the team and lead the delivery and commissioning of high-value Turnkey MEICA projects within the water sector.
The Role
The Control Systems Commissioning Engineer will need expertise in PLC programming, specifically using Allen Bradley (Rockwell Automation) platforms. You will play a key role in delivering control systems for complex industrial automation projects, with responsibilities covering software development, design support, testing, and commissioning on a wastewater treatment works, but they would need to be trained up and do the project handover at our clients Hampshire office for the first week or two.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- In a nutshell - Design, Develop, Programming, PLC, Commissioning, Documentation & Training (primarily Rockwell/Allen Bradley).
- Collaborate on creating functional design documents and system specifications.
- Configure system architectures, including networks and communication protocols.
- Support testing, installation, and commissioning activities, both remotely and on-site.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, clients, and partners.
- Ensure all work aligns with project requirements, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Contribute to documentation and deliver training to team members and end users.
Must-Haves:
- Degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar field.
- 5+ years of experience in control systems or industrial automation.
- Skilled in Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC programming (e.g., RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000).
- Some knowledge of SCADA, HMI, VSDs, and industrial instruments is a plus.
- Good at writing clear technical documents.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Must have a full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
- Thames Water Passport/Card required. Water background is essential
Additional Information:
- Some remote working may be accommodated after an initial on-site integration and training period, subject to Project Manager approval.
- Role may require travel to customer sites for testing and commissioning phases.
