The Business

Our client is the UK’s market leader in special purpose manufacturing equipment. With a 60% market share in their field the business has enjoyed a rapid period of growth thanks to the launch of two new product lines. As part of their expansion they are doubling the size of their Field Service Team over the next 3 years.

The business has an excellent training and development program for all employees, with a five tiered matrix up to Senior Engineer. With the completion of each training course the Engineers can earn, not only a promotion, but also a pay rise of £1000 per tier, up to a maximum of £39,000. Training covers the full range of their machines, plus PLC interrogation and modification.

The Role

The Field Service Engineer will be required to attend customers sites across the UK for breakdowns, routine service and the installation of new equipment. Hands on the role will be an equal split between electrical and mechanical work. The Field Service Engineer will also be required to interrogate PLCs and make changes to parameters as part of the calibration and fault finding process. Full training will be provided as part of the induction on how to do this.

The Field Service Engineer will also be required to perform calibrations of new and existing machines, plus demonstrate the machine’s operations to the customer.

On average the Field Service Engineer can expect to be required to stay overnight on average two nights a week. This may include some weekends. An away stay bonus of £30 a night for weekdays and £150 per night is included along with Food and Accommodation.

Ideally the business is looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer with a level 3 Electrical Qualification, with a background maintaining and servicing Automated Manufacturing machinery.

The Candidate

  • Must have a level 3 Electrical or Dual Skilled Qualification
  • Must have prior experience working as a Field Service Engineer
  • Must be able to fault find with a multimeter and read Electrical Drawings
  • Must hold a Full UK Driving license and be willing to travel anywhere in the UK
  • Must be willing to stay away when required
