The Company

Our client specialises in the design, manufacture, installation and service of fire suppression systems. Their systems are used in a wide variety of settings such as Shopping Centres, Music and Sport Venues, Offices and Factories. Their systems are designed to run independently from mains power so they will still run even if the power is interrupted from the mains.

Most of their systems use a Diesel Engine either connected directly to a pump, or via generator that then powers a motors that drives the pumps. The size of the systems vary massively depending on the building they are installed in, with smaller systems consisting of a single Diesel Engine and Pump, up to multiple banks of Engines and Pumps.

The Role

The Field Service Engineer will be required to attend customer’s sites and perform routine service on the Fire Suppression Systems. This will include a full service of the Diesel Engines and Pumps, checking all pipework, checking sensors and control systems, checking sprinkler heads and nozzles, plus changing of certain components based on age.

Most of the hands on work the Field Service Engineer will be required to do is mechanical, however the candidates must be comfortable using a multimeter to fault find on 12v and 24v electrical systems.

The Field Service Engineer will be covering the East Midlands and South of England so candidates can be based anywhere within that patch, but ideally close to major motorway connections.

The Candidate

  • Must have extensive experience working on Diesel Engines.
  • Must be able to fault find on 12v and 24v electrical systems.
  • Must be willing to commute and stay away when necessary.

Training

Due to the bespoke nature of their product, full training on their systems will be given to the successful candidate. The client is open to see candidates from a wide variety of backgrounds, however all candidates must be used to working on Diesel Engines to start with. The client is particularly keen on speaking the candidates who have recently left the armed forces or who have worked on Diesel Generator sets.
