£27,500 - £30,000 + 25 days holiday + Development to Senior Test Engineer

The Company
Our client is a global multi billion pound that specialises in a huge range of test services for customers in the Defence, Aerospace, Automotive, Commercial and many other industries.  The company employ thousands of people globally and have several specialist test facilities around the UK.  The business has a fantastic track record of bringing graduates into the business and developing them through to senior roles in the company.

The companies Warwickshire site specialises in a range of mechanical and bespoke tests including vibration testing, climatic testing, noise and salt spray testing.  The business has a purpose-built facility where they carry out these tests for customers and they have a 15 strong test team.

Due to growth within the company they are looking to recruit a Graduate Test Engineer to come in to be fully trained to become a test engineer in the business. The role gives a fantastic balance of theoretical and practical involvement.

The Role

The role of Graduate Test Engineer will involve:


The company are looking to offer graduates a huge amount of training and development in testing to someone with the right attitude. You would begin by shadowing an existing test or senior test engineer. In 1-2 years you will progress to be an established test engineer and your job will include:

  • Running environmental tests including vibration, noise, climatic and salt spray testing on a wide range of mechanical products and systems.
  • Setting up the test bed and product in the correct position to get the best possible test results.
  • An example test could be on a turbine blade and the specialist test equipment can vibrate the blade at incredibly high frequencies to see how it performs under pressure.
  • The customer is often on site for the test so you will update them with the test progress and keep them informed at all times.
  • Writing reports from testing activity and presenting these to the customer.

 

The Candidate
To be successful as a Graduate Test Engineer you will need:

  • Graduate in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent degree i.e Aerospace Engineering, Motorsport, Automotive Engineering.
  • Some practical mechanical experience is a bonus, this could be through work or through personal interests.
  • You will need to be happy physically setting up the tests, some of the equipment is large and requires the use of overhead cranes to attach the equipment to the test bed.
  • You should have an interest in Mechanical Engineering and be looking to get into a role that will involve both practical testing, analysing test data and then creating the required reports.
