Salary: £52,000 + Overtime (OTE £60,000+)
⏱️ Shifts: 4 on / 4 off (Days & Nights, 7am–7pm)
Holidays: 33 Days

A leading engineering manufacturer is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their growing Birmingham site. The operation employs 400+ people and runs a highly technical heavy-industry environment with large hydraulic presses, CNC machinery, and modern forging equipment.
With major investment in new plant and long-term contracts in the aerospace and defence supply chain, this is a stable, future-focused business offering excellent security and progression.
The Role – Maintenance Engineer
You’ll help ensure the reliability and performance of high-value machinery used across a demanding heavy-industrial operation. This is a mechanically focused role working on complex equipment in a rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on heavy manufacturing machinery
• ️ Mechanically fault-find on hydraulic presses
• ⚙️ Work with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and drives
• Read and interpret hydraulic & engineering drawings
• Support long-term PPM and reliability improvement projects
• Replace and repair mechanical components to ensure safe operation
About You
Essential:
• Time-served apprenticeship + Level 3 Mechanical Qualification
• 3+ years’ experience in medium or heavy manufacturing (steel, foundry, aerospace, automotive, etc.)
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes)
• Comfortable working in a heavy-industry environment
• Ability to read hydraulic and technical engineering drawings
Desirable:
• ️ Experience in forging, foundry, metals, or aerospace
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Ambition to progress into supervisory or senior roles
