The Company
Our client are part of a world leading test and inspection organisation with some 25,000 strong global presence. With a focus on providing the world’s best test and inspection, they are growing, adding further independent businesses into their fold and growing their presence very effectively.
The role of Mechanical Fitter will be working for a company, having recently moved into an brand new, purpose-build laboratory, with a focus on specialised environmental and automotive testing. You’ll be joining this business at a very exciting time, as they build the team, there will be ample opportunities for you to learn and develop your skills within a niche, challenging environment.
The Role
The Mechanical Fitter will be setting up the tests on the specialised equipment at the laboratory.
The role will involve:
- Setting up test rigs according to specifications given by the Test Engineer
- Fitting sensors required for test rig set up
- Checking that bolts are torqued and to the correct tension for test set up
- Use of hand tools and some power tools
- Drilling and tapping holes required for test rig set up
- Monitoring the test equipment during test processes and reporting any events to the Test Engineers
- Fabrication in the workshop – equipment includes Vertical drill, bandsaw, sander, mag drill and grinding/cutting equipment
- Main fabrication activities are to fabricate supports for test equipment and to fix any set up issues with mis alignment of fixtures

Our client are flexible with their requirements for Mechanical Fitter. This role could suit a hands-on, mechanically minded person looking for an exciting, stable role where they can work in a hands-on, fast paced environment.
It would be ideal to have:
- Practical hands-on experience
- Basic fabrication experience
- Ability/experience using hand-tools
- Any mechanical fitting experience would be fantastic
