ATA Recruitment are working with a leading global specialist who design, manufacture and install bespoke engineering equipment for the power generation sector.
The business has an annual turnover of 40 million per year and are currently going through a period of heavy investment with a view to becoming a 100 million business in the future. This rapid expansion is seeing their production volumes increase at speed, as a result they need to ensure their supply chain is fit for current business needs whilst also having the resilience and depth required to support the business growth.
This is a very exciting time to join the business and they are currently looking for a Procurement Manager to join their senior leadership as part of their growth. The business is looking for someone from a Procurement or a Supply Chain Leadership role who has experience within the engineering or manufacturing sectors who can develop short and long term strategy whilst also leading the operational performance of the procurement team.

The Role
As the Procurement Manager who will be responsible for both the strategical direction of the procurement division of the business whist also being accountable for the operational performance of the team of six. You will be responsible for an annual spend of circa £12 million which mainly consists of the mechanical and electrical materials required for product manufacture.
Key accountabilities in the Procurement Manager role will include:
- Analysis of the current supply chain to identify short, medium and long term areas that required increased resilience.
- Identification of new suppliers to build resilience into the supply chain and to support the volume growth of production.
- Supplier Reviews – Ensuring there is a robust review system in place to benchmark supplier performance effectively.
- Improving supplier performance - Building collaborative supplier relationships to work together to improve supplier performance.
- Ensuring the team structure is fit for purpose with clear expectations for roles.
- Identifying training and development needs in the team, mentoring and coaching of staff, identifying future successors and delivering staff 121s.
- Reviewing and Agreeing terms and conditions and measurables with suppliers
- Recruitment of staff for the team
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for this Procurement Manager role you will need.
- A CIPS accredited degree or degree qualification
- A desire and passion for leadership and management.
- Excellent Management and leadership qualities
- To be able to create vision and engagement in the vision from your team.
- A proven track record in successfully managing and developing a procurement or supply chain related team.
- To be a strong problem solver who can think analytically, strategically and operationally.
- To have worked in an engineering or manufacturing setting previously.
