Project Engineer – Hydraulics (Aerospace or Petro-Chemical Industries)
Based in Exeter – 9 Month Contract
£400 - £450 per day – 3 days a week – Ltd Company – Outside IR35
This growing engineering organisation delivers complete project solutions across a range of technical disciplines. It offers full lifecycle support, from design and development through to installation and commissioning across multiple industries. With a strong reputation for quality and reliability, the business is seeking a Project Engineer to support a major aerospace project during an exciting period of growth.
The project
- The current project involves the development of a mobile test rig for a leading aerospace client, designed to enable precise and reliable testing.
- The system features two integrated units, with a hydraulic press handling the controlled transfer of fluid into the product.
- Engineered for mobility, the rig can be easily moved using wheels or a forklift, providing flexibility on-site.
- Key components include four electric motors, two storage tanks, manifolds, pressure transducers, and advanced instrumentation to ensure accurate performance and monitoring.
This role of a Project Engineer will include the following:
- Act as the technical point of contact, overseeing the project as it progresses from its current phase through to build and delivery.
- Lead regular client meetings, address technical queries, and ensure all components meet required ATEX certification standards.
- Coordinate with key stakeholders, manage project timelines, and track progress using Gantt charts.
- Take responsibility for producing and compiling all technical documentation, including P&IDs, sequences of operation, FDS/URS, calculations, and design specifications.
- Ensure all quality, regulatory, and compliance documentation is completed, including ATEX approvals, QMS requirements, and associated regulatory submissions.
- Lead the technical aspects project from cradle to grave and resolve any issues as they arise
The Project Engineer must possess the following skills & experience:
- Previous lifecycle project engineering experience within a highly regulated fluid process environment such as Aerospace or Petrochemical.
- Familiarity of working with Hydraulic systems
- Understanding of the regulatory paperwork that is required within the Aerospace sector
- A strong ability to plan and organise
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good communication skills
