Project Engineer / Manager – Power & Distribution (HV)
Location - Teesside
Length of contract: 6-12 months (likely extension)
£400 - £500 per day DOE (Ltd co. outside IR35)

I am working with a key client in the Teesside area who are a global organisation, and that supply their product to the global marketplace. They operate a complex large, industrial process plant consisting of a heavy and hazardous high risk engineering environment.
They are looking for a Technical Project Engineer / Manager to support their complex site projects, overseeing HV, power and distribution upgrades. You will offer guidance, direction, and strategic solutions to P&D projects, and ensuring programmes are implemented and delivered.
For the position of Project Engineer / Manager, you will require to conduct the following duties:
- Report to the Head of Electrical Engineering, provide Leadership and guidance
- Manage all HV & P&D (up to 33kv) related projects, monitoring and looking at standards, and competency framework
- Managing projects including replacement of a substation (High Voltage 11kv-33kv), as well as major projects on capital equipment such as transformers and switchgear
- Adhering to all electrical industry standards and legislation within a heavy engineering high risk environment
- Support Electrical team, consisting of Electrical Lead/Section Engineers, Supervisors and Technicians
- Strategic support where required to day-to-day operations
- Managing major key stakeholders internally and externally, including suppliers and specialist sub-contractors
- Assessing potential Major hazards – Overseeing assessments of hazards & risk
- Completion of projects through delivery, commission, and final hand over
The successful Project Engineer / Manager will need to have the following attributes:
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
- HV Authorised Person, or Authorised Engineer experience (Up to 33kv)
- Previous heavy engineering / large complex industrial site, and Electrical Engineering management experience
- Process controls appreciation – SCADA etc
- Six sigma trained / Continuous Improvement – highly desirable
- Proven Strategic thinker, problem solver
- Leadership and project management experience – proven delivery in P&D
- Strong communicator at all levels and proactive – a ‘do-er’
- I.T / computer skills, MS Office / Outlook / MRP systems (SAP advantageous)
- Happy to work on-site, 5 days per week
