The Business

Our client specialises in the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and service of Dust and Particulate removal systems. Supplying to Power Generation, Biomass Processing, Mineral Production, Mining, Pharmaceutical and Chemical, they have a number of bespoke systems to suit their customer’s requirements.

Their Field Service Team operate out of their Swadlincote workshop, covering nationwide, the Service Team will head out as a group and be on site for a number of days to complete the Service, Installation or Commissioning of the various Pneumatic, Centrifugal, Vacuum and Electrostatic Systems they supply.

The Role

The Service Engineer will be working within the Electrostatic Filtration Installation and Service Team, working on large Electrostatic Filtration systems. These systems are primarily found in large industrial flues, such as in Power Stations or Furnaces. These systems can be up to 30 feet high and site within the base of a chimney or flue and consist of large electrostatically charged steel plates and collection bags, designed to trap dust, soot, and general particulate matter and stop it ejecting out of the flue.

The Team will first be tasked with removing the collection bags at the base of the unit. These are particularly heavy and so candidates will need to be physically fit to be able to remove them. Once the bags are removed the Electrostatic plates need to be cut out and new plates welded into position.

Due to the placement of these filtration systems, the work can be incredibly dirt and dusty at times, as well as physically demanding due to the size of the equipment. Full PPE and masks are provided to ensure a safe working environment. There will also be call for working at heights and in confined spaces.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be able to weld and fabricate (MiG or Stick)
  • Be comfortable working in confined spaces
  • Be happy to work at heights
  • Be happy to travel and stay away

Ideally the client is looking for someone with a background in the fabrication or repair of large sheet steel structures. You could have worked as a Plater or Fabricator, or even been involved in the repair of large industrial equipment.
