The Business

Our client is one of the UK’s largest designers and manufacturers of Printing and Labelling systems for the Food and FMCG sectors. The business has achieved on average 8% - 10% year on year growth over the last decade and have been steadily expanding their Service Team as a result of their increasing customer base.

With 12 Field Service Engineers spread out across England, they are now looking to add in three additional Field based Engineers, plus 3 additional Technical Support Engineers.

The Role

The business has a long proven track record of developing Junior Engineers through to fully fledged Field Service Engineers. This is done through an extensive training, development, and progression matrix. This starts with Trainees several months being taught how to repair their various products in their Repair Centre, plus shadowing the Senior Engineers out on the Road. From here they will then progress to become a Technical Support Engineer.

The Technical Support Engineer will be based at the business’ main Repair Facility in Nottingham and will be dealing with incoming Warranty calls from their customers. The Technical Support Engineer will be required to perform over the phone diagnostics of faulty equipment and either attempt to guide their Customer’s Engineer through the repair process or arrange for one of their own Field Service Engineers to attend site. The Technical Support Engineers also have the ability to log onto the machines remotely to aid in the diagnosing of faults.

Once this training has been completed over the space of 2 years, and extensive knowledge of the various products has been gained, there will be the opportunity to progress into the Field Service Team.

The Candidate

The client is looking for someone who is looking to develop a career long term with the business, with a will, want and desire to get into a career in Service and Maintenance. You will need to have already gained Electrical or Mechanical Qualifications (NVQ, City and Guilds, etc) or have completed an apprenticeship.

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • A recognised Engineering Qualification or Apprenticeship
  • Willing to learn
