The Company

Our client is a bespoke machinery manufacturer with an almost 30-year history of supporting the global manufacturing market. With service centres in the UK, US, Europe and Asia, this business is headquartered in Manchester with 50 employees working from this location alone.

Backed by a European parent company, they have been able to explore new markets and create new technology to expand their base service offering. Offering additional training courses and opportunities for progression, they maintain a good team culture whilst supporting individual development.

They are now looking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer with immediate effect.

The Role

The role of Electrical Design Engineer will involve operating as a sole contributor for electrical design, working closely with mechanical, controls, and commissioning to develop bespoke machinery. Working on projects that range from 1 week to multiple months, you will be the subject matter expert for Electrical Design. You will:

  • Design and develop electrical systems for automated, PLC-controlled machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Integrate electrical designs with mechanical and control systems, including Siemens PLCs, drives, and industrial automation components.
  • Specify and implement industrial safety circuits, safety relays, and related safety devices.
  • Support projects through collaboration, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure successful delivery and manufacturability.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application for this Electrical Design Engineer role you will need:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proactive, continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and quality.
  • Solid understanding of wiring schematics, panel layouts, and PLC equipment.
  • Knowledge of technical drawings, three-phase power distribution, Ethernet networks, and industrial communications systems.
