The Company
My client is a process engineering specialist who design and manufacture turnkey process solutions for clients in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and materials handling amongst other industries. The company have a trading history that dates back over 200 years and a senior management and directorship team who are all home grown from within the business.
The company employs nearly 200 staff of which over 100 are employed in professional engineering roles (18 of whom are chartered) across software, process, electrical and mechanical disciplines. The company are experienced huge growth in capital projects won and are on a mission to grow from a £50 million to £100 million business in the next four years.
Many of the projects the company deliver are global and require to movement of goods into and out of the UK to Asia, USA and Europe. They are creating a role for someone to focus on the ensuring all compliance, procedures and paperwork is in place for logistics requirements on projects. As a result they are recruiting for a Logistics Compliance Coordinator with immediate effect.
The Role
An example of a logistical challenge on a project could be moving a large-scale stainless-steel tank from Scotland to the USA. The business needs to understand all the paperwork and compliance that needs to be in place to move the product between the two locations and ensure the freight forwarder understands and that import/export compliance is in place.
Another example would be a supplier who can’t offer a DDP service for a high value engineered item for a project. On this basis my client assumes responsibility for the delivery of the product and has to understand the logistical complexities and compliance in delivering it to site.
General duties will involve:
- Strategical planning and coordinating with vendors.
- Organising full order cycle from purchase order through to delivery.
- Obtaining correct shipping documentation and commodity/duty codes
- Resolving any shipment of goods queries or problems.
- Assisting with customs clearance procedures
- Being the central point for logistics queries within the business
- Liaison with suppliers, freight forwarders and warehouses.
- Communicate with sales for stock arrivals and with the finance team for logistics costs.
The Person
To be successful in your application for this Logistics Compliance Coordinator role you will need:
- Understanding of transportation regulations
- Import/Export logistics experience
- Understanding of incoterms
