The Company

Our client specialises in the manufacturing of products for the construction market. With 19 manufacturing sites across the UK, they have the capability of manufacturing bricks, blocks, roof tiles, chimneys, box culverts, reinforced retaining walls and precast concrete floors and beams for the Civils, Rail and Construction markets.

Their Newark site specialises in precast reinforced concrete floors and beams, used predominantly in new build houses. Supplying to the vast majority of the country’s home builders, including smaller independents, the site physically cannot meet market demand with orders outstripping supply. As such the business have been heavily investing in their plant, plus introduced a companywide LEAN Manufacturing program, to boost production volumes.

The Role

The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Fault find and repair of all electrical systems and equipment on site.
  • Electrical safety checks.
  • Electrical PPM tasks.

The plant is a mix of fully automated pouring beds for the precast beams, plus a manual production area where skilled carpenters make up moulds for the large staircases and stair wells. Both are fed by fully automated mixing and batching plants fed from hoppers. The Electrical Maintenance Engineer would be responsible Maintenance of all equipment in both production area.

At present the maintenance work is a mix of reactive breakdown and PPM work, however the ultimate goal is to increase the bias towards PPMs through CI and Root Cause Analysis. The Electrical Maintenance Engineers would also be involved in helping to identify the problem areas.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application you must have the following skills, abilities or qualifications:

  • Must have a recognised Electrical Qualification (Apprenticeship or equivalent)
  • Must have previous experience working as Maintenance Engineer in an automated environment.

Thanks to an excellent internal training scheme, and deals with a local college, the business are keen to speak to individuals who have recently left the Armed Forces who have a Mechanical Engineering Qualification.
