The Company

Our client is a leading manufacturer of food products who have been established for over 100 years. This family owned business is a real success story and has multiple sites across the globe.

Their site in Leicester produces a number of different high-quality products and supplies in to all of the major multiples, their group turnover peaks at £1bn. The business has developed and grown considerable amounts over the past couple of years and they already have huge investments plans in the piple line for the future. With this in mind, now is a brilliant time to join this market leading company as a maintenance engineer.

The Role

As the maintenance engineer you will be responsible for all electrical and mechanical fault finding and rectification work on production lines on site. This will include fault finding through to a competent level with a multimeter or by checking inputs and outputs, reading schematics and checking HMI screens.

Electrical components include sensors, relays, safety circuits, 3 phase motors, inverters, switches & panels. PLC experience will require checking of inputs/outputs, ladder logic, uploading and downloading programs.

Mechanical work will include standard fault finding, working on hydraulic and pneumatic systems and swapping components like for like e.g. belts, chains, bearings.

Some of the machines you will be maintaining are:

Mixers, chillers, ovens, conveyors, sorters, slicers.

The work will be a mixture of reactive and planned maintenance and this will be determinded by the needs of the business on each shift. 

To be successful in your application as a maintenance engineer you must have the following skills, abilities or qualifications:

  • Must have a recognised qualification (apprenticeship, NVQ level 3, BTEC, ONC, C&G, HNC, HND).
  • Experience as a maintenance engineer
  • A positive can-do attitude.
