Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical bias)

Monday to Friday Days (shift covered is required)
£47k OTE up to £55,000 with shift cover and overtime (paid at 1.5x and 2x) + generous 10% pension, plus other site-specific benefits.
The Opportunity
We are working with a prestige client with c40 sites across the UK and over 2000 employees. They are one of the country’s leading manufacturers supplying into the construction and building trade and are renowned for their quality products.
We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer with a mechanical bias to join their large, high-performing facility working with state-of-the-art machinery alongside experienced Engineers.
This is brand new position with the aim that this days specific Maintenance Engineer will help move the site from more reactive, to planned maintenance focus by taking the pressure off the shift Maintenance Engineers and completing interesting improvement and planned maintenance work.
The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll work with a range of heavy-duty automated machinery including:
- Large mixers and slicers
- Conveyors, silos, and hoppers
- Kilns, hydraulics, and pneumatics systems
Using a tablet system for job tracking, this role places a strong emphasis on mechanical maintenance and repair. You’ll also be working with hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and chains.
While this role will eventually be significantly focussed on planned maintenance, as this is a new position, there will be a transitional period and particularly to start, this position will involve substantial reactive maintenance in line with business requirements.
The Candidate
The successful Maintenance Engineer will need:
- A background in mechanical maintenance within industrial or manufacturing environments
- Experience working on mechanical equipment
- Welding or fabrication experience would be highly advantageous
- A good attitude with a willingness to learn and to be a team player
- An NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in engineering
- A proactive attitude and flexibility for overtime as shift cover will be an integral part of the role
