Trainee Maintenance Engineer
Weds-Sat DAY shift – 7am-7pm (Tuesday overtime available x1.25)
Location - Dunstable
Salary - £24,000 - £27,000
Benefits – 22days + 8 bank holidays, bonus scheme, training, development, pension
The Company
Our client is a leading manufacturer of food products who have been established for over 35 years. This family-owned business is a real success story and has multiple sites.
Their site in Dunstable produces a number of different high-quality products and supplies into all of the major multiples, their group turnover peaks at £130m. The business has major growth plans and has recently seen a significant investment across their sites and are also looking to enhance their capacity on site with the introduction of new production lines in the coming years.
Due to their continued growth, they have been able to increase their team size within engineering and are looking for a trainee maintenance engineer to join their established team. This is a fantastic opportunity to progress in to becoming a maintenance engineer.
The Role
As the Trainee Maintenance Engineer you will be supporting the maintenance engineers on crucial planned work to keep the site running at full capacity for all mechanical planned maintenance on production lines on site during shutdown This will include periodic checks, changes and improvements.
Mechanical components will include:
- Oil changes
- Checking oil levels
- Greasing bearings
- Lubricating parts
- Cleaning parts – shafts, rollers, belts
- Changing filters on panels
- Changing filters in silos
- Removing guards and rebuilding
- Rebuilding seals
- Checking springs
- Changing blades
- Checking the stores for parts – replenishing parts from suppliers
- Setting of machines
- Working in the workshop on rebuilds
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for a Trainee Maintenance Engineer you must have the following skills, abilities or qualifications:
- Ideally have a level 2 engineering qualification
- A desire to progress technically
- A positive can-do attitude
