Press department
Home to the largest machinery on site, Toyotas press department utilises over 2500 tonnes of pressure to produce the inner panels, roofs, hood outer and side panels for the Toyota Corolla.
How does it work?
Somewhere in Europe, a customer purchases their brand-new car, this prompts Toyotas Just in time (JIT) manufacturing system to kick in and the smart technology begins to order the parts and materials used to produce the fantastic Corolla. Having made its way to the factory, each car starts its journey in the press shop as a roll of steel. The steel goes through a 4-step process to press, cut, drill, and bend the plates, developing the innovative shape of the vehicle.
What does a day to day of a maintenance technician within the press department look like?
