Peterborough, UK (Hybrid – 2 days remote working per week)
Salary & Benefits:
- £40,000 to £45,000 per annum
- 7.5% employer pension contribution
- 21 days annual leave + 8 public holidays

About the Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of mechanical design activities for complex machinery. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions, ensuring designs meet technical specifications, budgets, and performance KPI’s
Key Responsibilities for the Mechanical Design Engineer role:
- Design new machinery using SolidWorks and CAD tools
- Produce detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings, parts lists, and bills of materials
- Review and approve colleagues’ designs via PDM and ERP systems
- Lead mechanical design efforts within multidisciplinary project teams
- Create and manage risk assessments and technical documentation
- Collaborate internationally with engineers from other disciplines
- Provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders
- Mentor junior engineering staff and contribute to process improvements
What We’re Looking for in the Ideal Mechanical Design Engineer:
- Proven experience in mechanical design engineering
- Proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD design
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel occasionally as required
