Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechancical Bias) (4 on 4 off – Days & Nights)

Chester | £44,000 + overtime (earn £46–48K OTE) |  (12-hour shifts)

We’re looking for a hands-on, proactive Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern (days & nights, 6am–6pm / 6pm–6am).

This role is ideal for engineers with a maintenance background who want to work in a fast-paced, reactive environment while gaining access to industry-leading training and career development.

The Role

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Reactive maintenance across the site – keeping operations running smoothly.
  • Working with a wide range of equipment: compressors, boilers, pumps, valves, pneumatics, motors, and hydraulics (pumps/seals).
  • Facilities and plant maintenance.
  • PLC fault finding (bespoke/obscure German systems – no programming required).
  • PPMs managed through our CMMS system (mainly carried out on night shifts).
  • Occasional welding (TIG/Stick) – desirable but not essential.

    • Additional technical upskilling (pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, etc.).

Pay & Benefits

  • Salary: £43,600 basic (earn an extra £2K–7K with overtime).
  • Contracted hours: 42 per week (4 on / 4 off, 12-hour shifts).
  • Overtime: Plenty available, shared across the team.
  • Pension: 5% employer contribution.
  • Life Assurance: x1 annual salary.
  • Holidays: 20 shifts (bank holidays included – site works through bank holidays).
    • Site closed 2 days at Christmas and 1 at New Year (taken from holiday entitlement).

  • Proven experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role.
  • Strong understanding of pumps, compressors, boilers, pneumatics, motors, and hydraulics.
  • Ability to fault find on PLCs (no programming required).
  • Flexible, hands-on approach – this is a very reactive environment.
  • Willingness to learn and take on training/development.
