ATA Recruitment are working with a global manufacturing leader with operations in 22 European countries and 13 countries worldwide. Our client had a 2023 turnover of over £11 billion and employee over 47,000 staff over 350 sites.
As a leader in paper-based packaging they are looking for a Project Manager to join their team in Birmingham to handle Capex projects for the site. The projects will range from £10,000 - £10 million in value and the right candidate will be able to handle the projects from inception to completion.
The projects are varied in scale and challenges so a strong mechanical background will be advantageous, they can range from replacing existing machinery to carrying out new projects in line with existing business operations, you will be dealing with suppliers, internal departments and liaising with the head office based in Italy for approval on quotes. This role will offer you the opportunity to develop your skills and add to your project experience.
The Role
As a Project Manager you will be responsible for working within Capex budgets, preparing technical proposals, and discussing technical specifications with internal stakeholders. You are to provide efficient delivery of highly technological focused projects and improvement programmes.
Some of the duties that the Project Manager will have to carry out are to:
- Project manage various Capex projects within timescales and budgets outlined.
- Co-ordinate with the sub-contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers.
- Schedule the projects around the business functionality, limiting disruption to the current functions.
- Manage the budget responsibility on each project.
- Manage contractors for installation of new machinery, utilities, and modifications to existing equipment.
- Promote health and safety practices on and off site.
- Assist with commissioning where required, applying your engineering ability and knowledge.
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for the Project Manager role you will need:
- CAD software experience.
- Mechanical engineering qualification.
- Successful project experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong mechanical background.
