Quality Engineer

£40 - 45,000 + Company Pension + Early 1.30 finish Friday
The Client
An exciting opportunity has arisen within a leading Automotive Tier 1 & 2 Scottish manufacturer who supply into one of the most prolific OEM’s in Britain. You’ll be joining a complement of skilled Engineers within the Quality department.
This family-owned and run business has been established for over 30 years and after an enormous acquisition, form part of a £multi-million group with various UK and worldwide sites and over 1,500 members of staff. With huge opportunities and growth on the horizon, the successful Quality Engineer will be a crucial member of the team working to ensure KPI’s are met, and client issues are resolved in good time.
The Role
As Quality Engineer, the main responsibilities will be:
- Carrying out problem solving, and customer follow up based upon any non-conformances raised by customers
- Identifying whether any non-conformance is their responsibility or not
- Leading 8D problem solving processes to identify root cause of the issue to confirm action plan back to customer (within agreed 24hour response time)
- Document Control – working with operations to identify new SOP’s that need to be implemented to ensure compliance with them
- Long range quality improvement projects for the site – recent examples have included implementing bar code scanning systems on the tools at site and label reconciliation
- Auditing – leading the system compliance for audits against IATF16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 18001
The Candidate
Our client is a very flexible and is focussing their recruitment process more on how the Quality Engineer comes across, their motivations and their ability to communicate. With this in mind, Quality Engineers from any environment are welcomed to respond to this advert.
A significant part of this role will be to be customer facing, providing them with information and confirmation of next steps, etc which means comfort being client facing is a crucial element for this role.
To be successful, the Quality Engineer will have:
- Some form of manufacturing background within a Quality environment
- A Quality qualification would be highly advantageous
- A dynamic person, comfortable with taking responsibility and having difficult and direct conversations
- Good time management
