Location: Home-based in central England. You can be based anywhere between M62 in Yorkshire down to the M25

 

ATA Search is working in partnership with a privately owned and leading UK building and construction materials manufacturing business based in the heart of the Midlands. This well-established and profitable manufacturing business is looking to strengthen the commercial sales leadership team by recruiting a Sales Director to spearhead all sales and commercial activities.

 

Managing a medium-sized team of Sales Managers/BDMs, you will implement and execute sales and marketing strategies to increase sales turnover, maximise margins and increase market share within their respective markets. The successful Sales Director will inherit an already existing and high-performing team and will also be presented with multiple opportunities to progress into a more senior position.

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Fully accountable for the sales revenue and margin for a circa £43m business whilst managing a team of Sales Managers/BDMs
  • Developing and implementing commercial strategies according to company goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth
  • Conducting market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, business development etc.)
  • Understanding the requirements of existing customers to ensure their needs are being met
  • Act to acquire new customers and manage client relationships (new and existing)
  • Collaborate with and coordinate diverse teams (marketing, sales, customer service etc.)
  • Build and maintain profitable partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management/Board
  • Analyse and review sales margins and maximise profits. Set commercial sales strategies, review commercial contracts and increase sales margins
  • Manage supply chain networks – end users, housebuilders, distributors and merchants

 

Requirements:

 

  • An experienced Sales Director, Business Development Director or Commercial Director from within the building materials or construction materials sector
  • A demonstrable record in sales and business growth
  • A suitable qualification - BSc/BA in business administration, finance, or relevant field; MSc/MA
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Located and based anywhere between M62 and M25 and willing to travel extensively
