An exciting opportunity has arisen for a £multi-million capital project, manufacturing and delivery business based in the heart of the Midlands, supplying process plant and turnkey solutions. With over 30 years of expertise in providing projects for the Food, Beverage, Pharmaceutical and FMCG market sectors, my client sets the standard and is perceived as a market leader within their respective market.
With an all-encompassing and in-house engineering team, this engineering manufacturing organisation can provide systems and turnkey solutions for retrofits, and upgrades as well as delivering projects for brand new factories.
As a result of recent growth and success, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join the team and to play an instrumental part in the business achieving its growth targets.
It is also important to the client that the new Senior Commercial Manager aspires to become the next Commercial Director in the next three years.

The role of the Senior Commercial Manager will be as follows:
- The Senior Commercial Manager will be responsible for managing commercial governance on all contracts from presales, design, project construction and finance
- Ensuring all commercial contracts are in line with either NEC, IChemeE, JCT, ICE or MF/1 contracts
- Responsible for reviewing contract price variations and the negotiation of final contracts
- A detailed review of contracts and terms of business – terms, penalties, financial payments, clauses and commercial project deliverables
- Managing variations on projects, capturing extra costs and maximising commercial opportunities
- To lead all commercial contractual projects across the business and to lead the team by being an expert in this field whilst ensuring commercial project reporting is robust
- Analyse variation trends, and contract forecasting to ensure commercial due diligence is being applied
- Effectively monitor, interpret, and challenge financial results and communication issues, risks, opportunities, and trends
- Conduct critical reviews of the performance of the contracts within the business, identifying trends, areas of underperformance and potential opportunities, including the managing of GP improvement plans
- Provide a performance outlook including competitor activity and market trends to the management team on a timely basis
To be successful in the Senior Commercial Managers role you will need:
- An experienced Senior Commercial Manager, Commercial Director or Senior Quantity Surveyor
- You must have a demonstrable track record in commercial management within either Engineering, Manufacturing, M&E, Rail, Construction, Civil, Nuclear or Facilities Management sector
- A suitable qualification, ideally degree qualified such as Contract Law or Surveying however, experience is preferred
- RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) is highly desirable
- Hands-on, practical and willing to travel extensively
- Strong influencing and negotiating skills
- Full EU driving licence
