Service & Contracts Manager

£40,000 – 45,000

Belper

The Company
I am working on a retained business with a company that is a privately owned £3 million business that was established in December 2008.

Since 2008 the company has provided bespoke warehouse facilities services to customers in the logistics, processing, and distribution industries

The business is a tightly knit unit that employ 14 staff and they deal with a number of major logistics and high street customers

The business offers four main services:

  • Refurbishment of existing buildings, offices and welfare facilities
  • Loading Bay installation, repairs and servicing.
  • Materials handling and processing solutions.
  • Facilities Maintenance

The business can provide any or all of these services together thus enabling the customer to benefit from an efficient and reliable service with only one point of contact.

The work is undertaken using their own on-site teams or their accredited subcontractors.

Having developed the business to this point, the directors are looking at new potential business avenues and as a result have created this new management position in the business with the potential to develop into a GM role as the company grows further in the future.

The Role

As Service & Contracts Manager you will be reporting directly to the two business owners who see the role having the potential to develop into a GM position within the business.

The role will be to oversee the day-to-day business and managing the office which includes the two Site Support Coordinators based in the Belper office. You and the office team will be engaging with customers who have enquiries and help to select the right resource.  The work could be undertaken utilising my clients directly employed engineers or through approved sub-contractors.

Enquiries could be:

  • Issues with HVAC system, Heating, Ventilation, Cooling Systems
  • Repair of existing facilities –building fabric, lighting, barriers, guards.
  • Installation – Conveyors, benches, stands.
  • Refurbishment – Offices, welfare facilities

You will also manage and control the scheduled maintenance of clients’ plant and equipment is forming an increasing part of the business.

You will also take the lead on bespoke projects the business runs.  An example project which the company has undertaken was the design and installation of a cooling system for a distribution site.  The issue presented by the client was ‘the top floor of the building is too hot’.  My client visited to site to fully assess the problem. Following detailed calculations and selection of appropriate equipment, in this case a distributed evaporative cooling system, a detailed specification for the proposed solution together with a formal tender bid was produced and presented to the customer.  This was a £700K project.  Projects of this nature are typically between £100K and £1 million.

For projects of this nature the new Service & Contracts Manager will be expected to engage with the customer and assist in delivering the bid, undertake planning prior to commencement, order materials and equipment (bought-in and custom manufactured) and liaise with sub-contractors to ensure the programme is adhered to. The Service & Contracts manager will produce project plans for the customer and oversee the schedule of equipment coming to site. There is an established Site Manager who oversees the installation and the site workforce.
