The Business

Our client is one of the World’s largest manufacturers of end of line packaging solutions for the Food and Pharmaceutical industries. Supplying into the likes of Coca Cola, Nestle, Britvic and Kimberly Clark, their fully automated packaging systems can cope with any volume or size of product.

The business has been steadily expanding and growing over the last decade thanks to a mix of natural growth and the acquisitions of several of their competitors. Turning over roughly £200 million globally per year the business is projecting an end of growth of over 10%. Thanks to this growth the business now require additional engineers across their Service and Installation Teams and are looking to recruit an experienced Commissioning Engineer to focus on new installations.

The Role

Based from home, the Commissioning Engineer will be required to attend customer’s sites to complete the final commissioning stage of new installations. The Installations team will have already completed the installation of all the machinery and hardware. The Commissioning Engineer will then need to complete the final stage by commissioning all electrical and controls systems on the new line.

Most of their systems use Siemens PLCs, however a few of their specialist machines use Rockwell. The Commissioning Engineer will need to be able to load and modify code as part of the Commissioning and snagging process. The ability to work and fault find on 3 phase electrical systems and in control panels will also be required.

Ideally the business is looking for someone with a background in Installation and / or Commissioning of automated machinery. Candidates must also be able and willing to travel UK wide, and stay away Monday to Friday for a period of up to two weeks.

The Candidate

To be considered for this position you must have:

  • A recognised Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics Qualification
  • Be able to fault find and modify on PLCs.
  • Have previous experience working as a Commission, Installation or Automation Engineer
  • Be willing and able to travel and stay away when required.
