The Company
We are looking to speak with aspirational candidates who have a background in leadership within a stores, inventory or materials management environment who want to join a business who can offer fast tracked career development into senior management positions.
Our client is a specialist Automotive supplier working in partnership with OEM’s to provide high-quality re-manufactured parts. After being established over 70 years ago they have been through modernisation in recent decades and are seeing huge year on year growth as they continue strengthening their relationship with one of the leading Automotive manufactures in the UK.
The company employs 70+ staff and has a £multi-million turnover. Due to the need for succession planning, a Materials and Inventory Manager is now required to provide direction, guidance and management to the Goods-in , stores and goods-out team to ensure an efficient process for materials coming into and leaving the businesses as well as ensuring efficient materials availability for manufacturing.

The Role
The Materials & Inventory Manager will have responsibility for the stores, goods-in and goods-out areas within the business initially managing a team of eight. The role will have a heavy operational focus working with the team ensuring excellence is achieved on a daily basis by creating a performance culture.
The role will also create the vision and goals for the department giving you the opportunity to create the common vision for your team to aspire to .
Key day to responsibilities will involve:
- Ensuring all members of the team have clear daily direction of tasks to be performed.
- Reviewing performance versus expected standards and identifying areas for follow up and improvement.
- Regular communication with product assembly around component availability.
- Creating development plans for your team based around their goals.
- Recruitment for your team.
- Conducting regular audits against inventory and ensuring the ERP system reflect current component availability.
The Candidate
To be successful in your application for this Materials and Stores Manager role you will need;
- A background within logistics, goods-in, materials or warehouse management in a leadership capacity
- Familiarity with a complex and multi-faceted materials environment
- Strong leadership or management skills with the ability to galvanise a team towards a common goal.
- Very good communication, organisational and influencing skills.
- To have high standards and to be happy to challenge others to meet those standards.
- Be accomplishment driven with a desire to progress and take on further responsibilities
