Mechanical Design Engineer
Derbyshire (Commutable from Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and Birmingham)
£32,000 – 38,000 + Paid Overtime
The Company
My client is a process engineering specialist who design and manufacture turnkey process solutions for clients in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and materials handling amongst other industries. The company have a trading history that dates back over 200 years and a senior management and directorship team who are all home grown from within the business.
The company employs nearly 200 staff of which over 100 are employed in professional engineering roles (18 of whom are chartered) across software, process, electrical and mechanical disciplines. The company are experienced huge growth in capital projects won and are on a mission to grow from a £50 million to £100 million business in the next four years.
As a result of their continued growth the company are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer who will be responsible for creating schematics of P&IDs as well as 3D models of process plant layouts.
The Role
After project has been won a P&ID is developed by the process engineering team. The Mechanical Design Engineers role is then to:
- Develop the sketches from the process team into a full P&ID Schematic using CADWorx P&ID.
- There could be 40-60 P&IDs on a project to develop schematics for.
- 3D Modelling of the plant layout on CADWorx Plant – this will include some basic modelling of structural and bespoke items (flow plates, platforms) as well as creating the 3D Model for the pipework and process plant equipment on the project.
- Design for manufacture for bespoke items – component modelling – detailed manufacturing drawings for fabrication on the shop floor
- Site surveys – take a 3D camera to site to survey the site in full.
- Detailed plant layouts that show plan view, side view and elevation
The Person
To be successful in your application for the Mechanical Design Engineer role you will need:
- A mechanical engineering qualification.
- Experience in producing layout drawings for either process plant systems or materials handling systems.
- Good example backgrounds would include layout work for pipework or conveyors.
- To be happy to travel to sites for surveying when required.
