Mechanical Bias Maintenance Engineer — Wakefield
Shifts: 4 on / 4 off (Days & Nights)

Salary: £49,650 – £52,000 + Bonus + Overtime (OTE £60K–£65K)
A major manufacturer within the building products sector is expanding its engineering team at a brand-new, highly automated facility in West Yorkshire. This site represents a significant investment in modern UK manufacturing and offers a mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer the opportunity to work with advanced equipment in a clean, state-of-the-art environment.
This role is ideal for a strong mechanical engineer who enjoys working on complex machinery, continuous improvement projects, and developing broader multi-skilled capability.
The Role – Mechanical Focus
As a Mechanical Bias Maintenance Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

Mechanical fault finding on production and process machinery

Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown support

Working on gearboxes, motors, chains, bearings, conveyors and hydraulics

Pneumatics fault finding and repair
-
Mechanical strip-downs and rebuilds
-
Supporting installations and commissioning of new equipment
-
Assisting with continuous improvement and reliability projects
-
Working alongside electrical engineers on automation systems
There is some electrical exposure, but the core requirement is strong mechanical capability.

What They’re Looking For

Mechanical bias maintenance experience within manufacturing

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering

Strong mechanical fault-finding ability

Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics

Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Willingness to develop electrical knowledge over time
