Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer

Shifts – 2on 2off 3on 2off 2on 3off – 6-6 (off every other weekend, rotation days & nights)

Location - Northmptonshire

Salary - £37,000 - £40,000 plus overtime (OTE £40k, paid at 1.5x & 2.0x)

Benefits – 22 days + 8 bank holidays

The Company

Our client is the leading manufacturer in their field of food products who have been established for over 60 years. This family owned business is a real success story and has multiple sites across the globe and employs over 17,000 people around the world.

Their site in Peterborough produces a number of different high quality products and supplies in to all of the major multiples and in to the food service, their group turnover peaks at £440m The business has major growth plans and has recently seen a significant investment of £6m, and are also looking to enhance their capacity on site with the introduction of new production lines in the coming years.

The Role

The engineer will be responsible for all electrical fault finding and rectification work on production lines on site. This would include fault finding through to a competent level with a multimeter or by checking inputs and outputs, reading schematics and checking HMI screens.

Electrical components include sensors, relays, safety circuits, 3 phase motors, conveyors, converters, switches & panels. PLC experience will require checking of inputs/outputs, ladder logic, uploading and downloading programs

The work will be predominantly reactive maintenance with a site shutdown for 36 hours every month for planned preventative maintenance. Work will include washers, ovens, fryers, mixers, blenders, ovens, boilers, x-ray machines, metal detectors.

The production process includes washers, slices, fryers, spiral chillers, blast freezers, packaging and palletisers.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application you must have the following skills, abilities or qualifications:

  • Must have a recognised electrical qualification (apprenticeship, NVQ level 3, BTEC, ONC, C&G, HNC, HND).
  • Experience of working within a FMCG or Automated Production environment.
  • Fault finding and PLC experience.
  • A positive can-do attitude.
